Glasgow Gailes
This demanding, compact course is a venue for many national events including the Scottish Amateur Championship.

Machrihanish
A Tom Morris layout dating from 1876 is one of the most memorable courses Scotland has to offer. Each hole is quite unique but none as remarkable as the world famous first, where your tee shot must carry across the beach and a corner of the Atlantic Ocean. Superb, undulating greens and a friendly welcome make this a very special experience.

Old Prestwick
Venue for the first 12 British Open Championships (1860-1872) and a dozen more since, Old Prestwick holds a unique position in golfing history.

Royal Troon
This is one of the very finest links courses Scotland has to offer and probably the best on the British Open circuit.

Turnberry Ailsa & Arran Courses
Two championship courses, selected as sites for the British Open in 1977, 1986 and again in 1994, make for a true test of your golfing abilities. Play of these courses is restricted to residents of the Turnberry Hotel.

Western Gailes
Host to the Curtis Cup, British Seniors Open and a qualifier for the Open, this magnificent seaside links contains more of the good things of golf than any other.

Carnoustie
Tom Watson said that Carnoustie is a must on the golfer's list of British courses which should be played, and Gary Player called it one of the world's greatest courses. Who would disagree?

Crail
Following a magnificent coastline, this challenging course is highly regarded for its testing holes and standard of greens. Quite old, even by Scottish standards, the Crail Golfing Society was formed in 1786. Breathtaking scenery.

Dunbar
Golf has been played at Dunbar links since the 17th century, longer in fact than nearby and highly esteemed Muirfield. Championship quality in every way and sure to please.

Gullane #1
This qualifying links course for the British Open has fast greens and formidable bunkers.

Ladybank
Designed by Tom Morris, this is a regular, qualifying course for the British Open. Wooded heathland with narrow fairways.

North Berwick
Yet another "must play", this excellent links course is home to one of Scotland's most venerable golf clubs. Founded in 1832.

St Andrews - Old Course
This is the magical home of the game, where golf has been played since the 15th century. Unique and awesome with its huge double greens, little more need be said about the course Mother Nature designed.

St Andrews - New, Eden & Jubilee Courses
All are superb links courses, demanding the most accurate play and judgement with cunningly positioned bunkers and the inevitable winds coming across the Eden Estuary. The New Course is considered by many as the best in St Andrews.

Scotscraig
It's a pity more visitors do not play this highly rated course. Extremely tight with an abundance of gorse, accuracy and sound judgement are demanded from start to finish.

Blairgowrie-Rosemount
An unsung hero of Scottish golfing, this heathland course is sure to please and delight. One of Britain's top rated inland courses.

Gleneagles - King's, Queen's & Monarch's Courses
Spectacular surroundings afford beautiful scenery and some very satisfying golf on these superior moorland courses. You must be a resident of the Gleneagles Hotel to play.

Pitlochry
Set in the hills above the town of Pitlochry, this is one of Scotland's true hidden gems. A shorter course but devious enough to make the achievement of par difficult for any golfer. Superb scenery.

Alyth
This James Braid design, dating from 1894, places a premium on accuracy and club selection rather than strength. Many interesting holes and a delight for all levels.

Brora
Little known except to locals, this gem of a links combines beautiful scenery and exceptional views with some very testing holes.

Cruden Bay
Officially rated among Britain's top 30 courses, this is a personal favorite and well worth the small travel detour required to play it. A traditional but tough seaside links to be appreciated by the serious golfer.

Lossiemouth - Old & New Moray
Two championship courses of superior quality, guaranteed to test your skills. The location on the Moray Firth provides unusually mild weather, year round.

Nairn
Stunning views of the Moray Firth from virtually every tee and green, Nairn has hosted the British Amateur Open, and in 1999, the Walker Cup. Quality golf at its best.

Royal Aberdeen
Fronting the North Sea, this championship links holds a true challenge for those who dare.

Royal Dornoch
One of Scotland's most challenging links and rated in the top ten of the world's greatest courses, Dornoch is a must play for every serious golfer. The most northerly of the championship courses, enjoying a wonderfully isolated locale, you will be well rewarded for your trip.

Tain
Masterfully designed by Tom Morris in 1890 and in many ways, reminiscent of St Andrews, frequent directional changes make Tain a far from easy challenge. Hard and uncommonly fast greens only add to the test. The 3rd and 11th holes are truly outstanding and among the best in all Scotland.
